THE STORY OF THE
MALTESE CROSS
The cross USED BY DOC MIKE is a maltese-type (eight-point) CROSS and has been
adopted by motorcycle ENTHUSIASISTS...as well as BY firemen.

the FIRST USE OF THE CROSS WAS as a badge of courage and ALSO AS A symbol of
protection.

THE CROSS ORIGINALLY came from 'the Knights of
St John' the Baptist (my catholic school 'confirmation' name)
who defended the HOLY LAND against the SARACENS...

The Saracens used what would be EQUIVALENT to a MOLOTOV
COCKTAIL...
THEY threw NAPTHA in 'glass bombs' and once
the crusaders were covered, they threw torches to
ignite the naptha.
(This is why firemen adopted a similar cross.)

The KNIGHTS of ST JOHN were awarded the cross AS A BADGE OF COURAGE AND for
the MEDICAL care of the burn victims.
